CODY
"Making music is most enjoyable when it comes from within. I attach meaning and purpose to all my instruction which leads to a deeper connection between my students and the music. Through this, I help my musicians find THEIR voice, as a musician and as a person."

about cody
Cody Burroughs is a vocalist and Choral Director from Northeast Ohio. A recent graduate from Kent State, Cody earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a focus in Choral Music Education as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a focus on Vocal Performance. He is an active musician within the Northeast Ohio area, gigging throughout Akron, Canton and Cleveland. He is currently the interim Choral Director for Streetsboro High School and Middle school and the Director of Choirs at Trinity Lutheran Church in Kent. As the director, Cody specializes in choral conducting and creating a culture of excitement, camaraderie, comedy and joy for his students.
Cody has been described as a lyric tenor, with a strength in classical Bel Canto singing. Using his extensive choral vocal knowledge with his solo vocal training, he strives to work with and create well rounded vocalists. Cody attaches his late entrance into the music world and his professional education to help relate to students who struggle with music literacy. During his collegiate experience, he studied voice under GRAMMYⓇ award winning Musician, Jay White, where he studied an array of musical genres. Also during his time at KSU, he was part of the Opera program and the assistant choral director for KSU’s Tenor/Bass group, Coro Cantare.
Cody’s experience with choirs of all ages ranging 11 years old to 87 years old has allowed him to truly understand how the voice changes with time. While still building a name for himself in Northeast Ohio, Cody is excited to stay rooted in Akron and be a part of the AMI faculty.
